Pod devices started as a more cigarette-like alternative, which is why most pod system designs out there are shaped like a lighter, allowing it to look and feel like an actual cigarette. Most pod systems like the Eleaf Tance Max have upped the game by adding useful features that allow you to customize your draw. Eleaf is not a new vape brand so they have had their ups and downs with their pod system releases, and they did a pretty good job on the Tance Max.
The Tance Max is a stylish, chunky yet portable all-in-one pod system designed for the mouth-to-lung vaping community. It is a manually-activated system, so it uses a fire-button to activate the device’s battery when you want to take a draw. The Tance Max uses replaceable coils, a useful addition for vapers who need more than just one setting. It also features an adjustable airflow control that allows you to customize your vape experience.
The Eleaf Tance Max kit is modestly packed with just about everything you need to get you on your way. You can purchase the Eleaf Tance Max Kit from the Eleaf World website within the range of $30.92-$36.80. The device is available in 6 different colours: Black, White, Geometry, Seashell, Trick, and Seablue. Something quite generic with Eleaf is their simple packaging style.
The Tance Max comes in a cardboard box with the picture of the Tance Max device on the front, and a list of the contents of the kit alongside some warnings and technical information at the back of the box. The contents of the box include:
- 1x Tance Max Battery
- 1x Tance Max Cartridge
- 1x GS Air M 0.6ohm Mesh Coil Head (pre-installed)
- 1x GS Air S 1.6ohm Standard Coil Head
- 1x Type-C USB Cable
- 1x User Manual
A major part of the chassis of the Tance Max is made of zinc-alloy, with its side panels made of colourful plastic. The device is a beautiful sight and depending on the colour you purchase, the design of the side panels will differ. The sides and edges of the Tance Max have a slightly curved trim that makes the device very handy despite its size and allows it to slip into your pocket comfortably.
The Eleaf Tance Max measures 101mm tall, 31mm wide, 20.5mm thick, and it weighs about 87g, so unlike most pod systems, the Tance Max is slightly taller, wider, and heavier. The device may be a little above the average weight of a pod system, but it still feels great, not too heavy.
One of the reasons for the form factor of the Tance Max is the power it’s carrying under its hood. The device is integrated with an impressive 1100mAh battery, which is more than enough even for a heavy vaper. To charge such a massive battery, Eleaf uses a Type-C USB port that is located at the bottom of the device, allowing you to fully recharge the Tance Max in under an hour.
The device’s fire-button is on its front face. It is a slightly elevated rectangular button with a line in its centre that allows the LED indicator to shine through. Eleaf got the throw on the button well so it will not accidentally go off in your pocket. Also, it is quite simple, and if you already have experience with manually-activated systems, you should already know this. You simply click the button five times to power the device on or off, and you use a single click to fire. The LED indicator shows when the device is charging or firing. It also shows the current battery level of the device, giving you more control. Green is for when the battery is from 100-60%, Blue when it is from 59-20%, Red when it is below 20%, and a continuous Red flash when it is time for a recharge.
An amazing feature of the Tance max is its pod capacity. The Tance Max vape pod can hold 4ml of e-juice (2ml for TPD). The Eleaf Pod is made of plastic that is slightly tinted, still allowing you to see the current level of e-juice left. The pod also functions as the mouthpiece, and it is depressed on one side to give it a more natural and comfortable feel in your mouth. The pod is inserted at the top of the device and is connected securely using three magnetic contacts that hold the pod firmly in place.
Under the pod is where all the magic happens. The pods fill port is located here, and it uses a simple leak-free rotary-fill design. You just have to rotate the seal giving you access to the pod, then you can refill with your preferred e-juice. The fill port is large enough to accommodate all bottle nozzles. The Tance Max uses replaceable coils, and under the pod is a threaded collar where the coils go. On the sides of the Tance Max device are two large airflow inlets that feed into the airflow control ring which is also the threaded collar, at the base of the pod. The airflow control ring is adjustable for either more or less restriction. The 0.6ohm GS Air Mesh coil provides an airier mouth-to-lung draw while the 1.6ohm Standard coil delivers a more restricted mouth-to-lung draw. It all depends on your preference.
Although it is marketed as a mouth-to-lung device, you can still get a direct lung hit from this device. The battery life, fast charging, replaceable coils, adjustable airflow are all promising features of the Eleaf Tance Max. So if you are a vaper looking for more control but in a potable and elegant body, you should give the Tance Max a shot.
